About

CENTRAL ILLINOIS VOLUNTEER INFORMATION CENTER was established in late 2009. In the first few months of operation, CIVIC has gained nearly 30 volunteers and 20 agencies to the program just by word of mouth. The program is looking to expand to all non-profit agencies and to gain an unlimited amount of volunteers between the ages of 14 and 54.

CIVIC works closely with the Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service. Serve Illinois aims to better communities by encouraging volunteerism and national service with all ages in the state of Illinois.

CIVIC also gets guidance from the AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps is a nation wide initiative that centers around volunteerism for all ages. CIVIC staff is comprised of an AmeriCorps VISTA member. VISTA is a division of AmeriCorps that represents Volunteers in Service to America. The VISTA worker is working to establish the CIVIC program for the Central Illinois region.
